Boleyn Claims Multiple First-Place Finishes in DC Defeat

DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Defiance College women’s swimming and diving team was defeated by Baldwin-Wallace in its first ever Ohio Athletic Conference meet by a score of 82-57. The meet took place on Friday evening at 6:00 p.m. Even though the Purple and Gold could not secure a victory, it received a number of strong performances from the young team comprised of all freshmen and sophomores. Freshman Emily Boleyn continued her strong start to the season, as she notched two more first place finishes for Defiance. Last meet she dominated in the backstroke, and in this meet Boleyn showed her diversity by claiming victories in two freestyle events. The freshman won the 100-yard freestyle race with a time of 57.26 seconds and the 50-yard freestyle by a remarkable two seconds with a time of 26.09 seconds. DC received other quality performances from a trio of freshmen. Alicia Hoopingarner was victorious in the 100-yard butterfly race with a time of 1:11.27, while Jacqueline Loock won the 500-yard freestyle event with a time of 5:49.96. Diver Rae McCollins placed second in the one-meter dive by posting a score of 128.05. Defiance is back in action on Saturday, November 12 as it heads to South Bend, Ind. to face St. Mary’s College at 1:00 p.m. |
