HIRAM, Ohio – The Lady Yellow Jackets’ swimming and diving team raced against the Hiram College Terriers on Saturday afternoon. Defiance fell in defeat by a final score of 97-82. In spite of the loss, there were many positives the Yellow Jackets could take away from the meet. Freshman Emilee Boleyn, last week’s Ohio Athletic Conference swimmer of the week, continued her amazing stretch of victories against the Terriers. Boleyn entered three events, two individual and one relay, and won all three. The freshman raced in the 200-meter individual medley for the first time this season and won by nearly 16 seconds with a time of 2:42.17. Boleyn also claimed a victory in the 100-meter backstroke with a time of 1:12.40. Alicia Hoopingarner and Jacqueline Loock also turned in first place finishes on the afternoon for the Purple and Gold. Hoopingarner won the 400-meter freestyle with a time of 5:41.55, and placed second in the 200-meter freestyle. Loock raced to a victory in the 100-meter butterfly posting a time of 1:21.74 and placed second in the 1500-meter freestyle. The Jackets also won a relay for the first time in the program’s history. Loock, Boleyn, Hoopingarner and Miranda Behner were the members of the winning 800-meter relay. The team’s time was 10:23.92. Defiance is next in action on Saturday, December 3, when the team travels to Urbana University to race against the Blue Knights. The meet is set to begin at 1:00 p.m. |
