DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Defiance College swim team hosted its second swim meet in as many weeks on Saturday afternoon. The women’s team raced against Urbana and Ursuline in a tri-way meet, while the men went head-to-head with Urbana.

Three members of the Purple and Gold claimed first place finishes on the day. Freshman Brittany Pease was the first Yellow Jacket to touch the wall at the meet, as Pease raced to first place in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:10.16. The freshman also finished fourth in the 100-yard backstroke.

Another freshman who stood out at the meet was Eme Miller, who finished first and second. Miller was victorious in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:54.99. In addition to the win in the 500, Miller finished the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 2:12.87 for a second-place finish.

Sophomore Emilee Boleyn, a three-time All-Ohio Athletic Conference performer a season ago, found herself in a familiar position by winning the 100-yard backstroke event. Boleyn finished with a time of 1:06.80 in the race.  The sophomore fell just short in winning the 50-yard freestyle, as Boleyn finished second with a mark of 26.40.

In men’s action the Jackets had two athletes compete in multiple events. Freshman Braden Perry had a busy day, as Perry picked up a second-place finish and two third place finishes. Perry’s best performance came in the 1,000-yard freestyle, as the freshman recorded a time of 11:54.73. Perry finished third in 50 and 100-yard freestyle events.

Freshman Adam Dunbar recorded two fifth-place finishes in the 50 and 100-yard freestyle sprints. Dunbar improved on his time from last Saturday by nearly a full second in the 50.

No team scores have been released for either the men’s or women’s meets.

The Yellow Jackets will be back in the water on Friday, November 2, as the men’s and women’s squads travel to Franklin for a dual meet against the Grizzlies. The meet is set to begin at 5:30 p.m.
