Baseball Loses a Pair Against Anderson (Ind.) in Season Finale
ANDERSON, IND. -- The Defiance College baseball team lost both games of a Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader against Anderson (Ind.) University, 20-2 and 13-2 in seven innings, in the final games of the 2015 season.

In game one, Defiance (15-21, 10-17 HCAC) scored the game's first run in the top of the first inning on a RBI single by junior Ben Weber (Troy/Lehman Catholic) to take the early lead. Anderson (28-11, 19-8 HCAC) then struck for 13 runs in the second that included a pair of three-run homeruns and a three-RBI triple that put the Ravens out in front, 13-1. Anderson didn't let up as the Ravens went on to add three more runs in the third as part of a 16-0 run. The Yellow Jackets scored what turned out to be their final run of the game in the top of the sixth on a on double play with bases loaded making the score 16-2. Anderson rounded out the scoring with a pair of runs in the seventh and eighth innings and cruised to the 20-2 final.
Junior Ryan Kohlhofer (Walbridge/Lake) and senior Joel Musser (Center Line, Mich./Center Line) both ended the game with a pair of hits. Musser finished two-of-four with a run scored and Kohlhofer went two-of-five and scored a run. Weber and sophomore Tre' DeVoe (Allen Park, Mich./Allen Park) had the other two hits for DC as Weber finished one-of-five to go along with the RBI and DeVoe had a hit in three at-bats.
DC used five pitchers in the game with sophomore Matt Clark (Sandusky/Perkins) getting the nod. Clark pitched an inning allowing 10 runs on seven hits and had two strikeouts. He was also given the loss and ends the season with a 2-5 overall record.
In a repeat of game one, Defiance took the early lead with a run in the top of the first inning following a lead-off double by Kohlhofer and later scored on a defensive error. The Anderson offense stayed hot in the night cap as the Ravens answered the lone DC run with a 13-run scoring streak that included three runs in the third, seven in the fourth and three more runs in the fifth to lead 13-1. The Yellow Jackets tacked on a run in the sixth on a RBI double by Musser, but that's were the potential rally ended as the Ravens maintained their sizeable lead putting the 10-run rule into effect to post the 13-2 win after seven innings.
Kohlhofer had a one-of-four showing at the plate in addition to his run scored. Musser went one-of-three with a the RBI. Weber and sophomore Quinten Harrington (Sandusky/Perkins) also had base hits with both finishing one-of-three.
Senior Aaron Grasing (Carmel, Ind./Carmel) made the start on the hill in game two and pitched three and two-thirds innings fiving up eight runs on eight hits and had one strikeout. He also ended up with the loss and ends the season with a 3-4 mark. Watkins pitched a third-of-an-inning and allowed two runs on three hits. Junior Chris Douglas (Wixom, Mich./Walled Lake Western) ptiched the final two innings and gave up three runs on two hits.
