DC Baseball earns ABCA Team Academic Excellence award for second straight year

DEFIANCE, Ohio – Defiance College Baseball collected more academic recognition for the athletic department by picking up the program's fifth ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award in the last six years. The honor for the Yellow Jackets in 2023-24 places them as one of 181 Division III baseball teams recognized by the ABCA.

The ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award, presented by Sports Attack, recognized over 800 college and high school programs for the past academic year. These programs of honor must hold a team cumulative GPA of 3.00 on a 4.0 scale during the 2023-24 academic year. The Yellow Jackets posted a team GPA of 3.41 and had eight players achieve a 4.0 GPA during the fall semester followed by five in the spring.

The award is DC's fifth in the last six years (2018-19, 2019-20, 2020-21, 2022-23, 2023-24). The Yellow Jackets were one of 25 college baseball teams in the state of Ohio at all levels and among eight schools in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference to achieve this high academic status.
