Sierra Repeats Team of the Week Award

DEFIANCE, Ohio – Defiance College's Anthony Sierra has been named to the National Team of the Week for the second-straight time. The freshman corner was selected to the team from more than 70 nominated student-athletes from around the nation.

Sierra also repeated as the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference's Defensive Player of the Week, after leading the Yellow Jackets to a 20-7 win at Anderson. Sierra tied a Defiance College single-game record with three interceptions and returned one of those three picks 27 yards for a touchdown. The Warren, Mich., native also helped to ground the Ravens offense, which completed just 12-of-33 passes and mustered only 188 total yards of offense.

Along with earning back-to-back weekly honors from and the HCAC, Sierra has piled up five interceptions and two touchdown returns over the last two weeks. The strong performances have fueled the Jackets to two-straight road wins in league play.

Sierra and the Jackets will look to make it three-straight HCAC victories when they host Hanover on Saturday at 1:30 pm.
