Pettaway Inks Deal with Germany's Dachau Spurs
DEFIANCE, Ohio – Former Defiance College standout center, Anthony Pettaway, has recently signed a contract to begin his professional career on the hardwood. The three-time All-Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference player will take his game overseas to compete for the Dachau Spurs of Germany’s Regionalliga South-East League.
DEFIANCE, Ohio – Former Defiance College standout center, Anthony Pettaway, has recently signed a contract to begin his professional career on the hardwood. The three-time All-Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference player will take his game overseas to compete for the Dachau Spurs of Germany's Regionalliga South-East League.
Pettaway averaged 16.8 points, 9.5 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per game for the Yellow Jackets during his senior season and was named First-Team All-HCAC, Second-Team All-Midwest District and Third-Team All-Midwest Region.
The Toledo, Ohio, native ended his four-year career at Defiance with 1,477 points, 75 blocks, 767 rebounds and 617 made field goals. Those totals rank Pettaway 11th in scoring, second in blocked shots, sixth in total rebounds and sixth in made field goals in DC history.
Pettaway will bring much needed size and strength to the experienced roster for the Dachau Spurs and will play for first-year head coach Christian Kunz. Pettaway will be joined on the squad by a fellow newcomer from the United States, as NCAA D-II Bloomfield College standout, Knox Omari, is also set to bolster the roster.
The Spurs are located in Munich, Germany and will play their first scrimmage on August 15 in preparation for the upcoming 2009-2010 campaign. Pettaway will look to help the team improve on its 11-12 record in 2008-2009.
