DC Receives Votes in National Poll For Second Straight Week

DEFIANCE, Ohio – Despite suffering a heartbreaking loss on the road the Defiance College men's basketball team placed in the www.D3hoops.com national poll for the second week in a row and for the third time during the 2009-2010 campaign.

Defiance was among the 42 teams to garner votes for the national poll, earning a single point to tie with Cabrini and St. John Fisher for the 40th highest total in the week six poll. The Jackets had previously earned seven points for the 38th highest total in week five, after landing 16 points in the week one poll.

DC dropped six points and two spots in the poll, after having its five-game win streak snapped with a 58-56 loss at Transylvania on Wednesday, January 6, before bouncing back with an 81-72 win at Mount St. Joseph on Saturday, January 9. The 1-1 showing for the week moved Defiance to 12-3 on the season and 3-3 in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference.

The Jackets will only have one game this week, with a home date against Franklin (4-10, 2-3 HCAC) set for Saturday at 4:00 pm.
