Sales averaged 22.5 points, 9.0 rebounds, 3.0 steals and 1.5 blocks per game, while hitting 17-of-27 field goal attempts for a blistering 63.0-percent clip over two games. The senior forward connected on 10-of-13 shots and piled up 25 points and 13 rebounds at Bluffton on Wednesday, before going for 20 points, five boards and five steals in a key road win at Rose-Hulman on Saturday.
Sales has scored at least 20 points in five games this season and currently leads Defiance with 14.2 points, 7.9 rebounds and 2.3 steals per night. The all-around threat is the HCAC's only player to rank among the top five in scoring, rebounds and steals this season, as he ranks first in thefts, second in boards and fourth in points.
The weekly honor is the second-such award for DC this season, as Sales and Logan Wolfrum have each been recognized by the HCAC for their efforts on the planks. It also marks the third HCAC Player-of-the-Week award earned by Sales during his four-year career with the Jackets.
Sales will enter play on Wednesday 14 points and 62 rebounds shy of becoming just the fifth player in Defiance history to log 1,200 points and 800 rebounds in a career, as he currently ranks 26th in scoring and only 29 rebounds out of sixth all-time in DC history.
Sales and Defiance (14-4, 5-4 HCAC) will put their 7-0 home record on the line on Wednesday, as No. 11 Anderson (17-1, 9-0 HCAC) invades the Karl H. Weaner Community Center for a 7:30 pm tip.
