Schomaeker Named Capital One Academic All-District
DEFIANCE, OHIO -- Defiance College senior men's basketball player Travis Schomaeker (Ottawa/Ottawa-Glandorf) has been named Captial One Academic All-District 7 as voted by CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America).
DEFIANCE, OHIO -- Defiance College senior men's basketball player Travis Schomaeker (Ottawa/Ottawa-Glandorf) has been named Captial One Academic All-District 7 as voted by CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America). He now qualifies for the Academic All-American ballot that will be voted on at a later date.
Schomaeker, an education major with a perfect 4.0 grade point average, has started all 20 games this season and has played a significant role in helping the Yellow Jackets to a 15-5 overall record and 10-3 in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference. He is second on the team in scoring with a 15.1 points per game average while shooting 43.6 percent (105-of-241) from the floor, 41.3 percent (45-of-109) from three-point range and 85.2 percent (45-of-54) at the free-throw line. He leads the team in assists (74), three-pointers made (45), three-point attempts (109) and is second in steals (24). In additon, Schomaeker has also been averaging 4.0 rebounds this season.
Schomaeker ranks eighth in the HCAC in scoring (15.1 ppg.), second in triples made (45), 10th in three-point percentage (41.3 percent), fifth in free-throw percentage (85.2 percent), fifth in assists (74), seventh in steals (24) and 10th in turnover-to-assist ratio (1.9).
During his career, DC has posted a 64-35 record, including a 35-11 mark the past two seasons. He has scored 850 career points with 235 rebounds and has dished out 216 assists. Schomaeker has a 40.6 lifetime shooting percentage (306-of-753) and a 37.3 percentage (158-of-424) from long range. He also has a 76.9 shot percentage (80-of-104) at the free-throw line.
Last season, Schomaeker was named to the HCAC Tom Bohlsen All-Academic Team for the first time in his career.
Schomaeker and the DC men's basketball team will travel to Cincinnati for a HCAC game against Mount St. Joseph University on Saturday, Feb. 7. The game is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
