DC's Alex Miday Named HCAC Men's Golfer of the Week

GREENWOOD, OHIO  --  Defiance College sophomore Alex Miday (Canton/St. Thomas) has been selected as this week's Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference "Men's Golfer of the Week."

Miday finished one under par at the two-day Anderson (Ind.) University Fall Invitational to open the 2015-16 season.  Miday carded rounds of 71 and 72 strokes for an overall 143 stroke total which was the lowest individual score posted for the tournament to take medalist honors.  

He placed second in the same event last season and his medalist honor over the weekend marked his first such award of his collegiate career.  It also marked his third top-three finish during his career as a Yellow Jacket.

Defiance will host the annual Jon P. Spiess Memorial Tournament tomorrow (Tuesday, Sept. 15) at Ironwood Golf Course in Wauseon, Ohio.  The single-round tournament is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. with a shotgun start.
