Miday Takes Medalist Honors as Jackets Tie for Second
DEFIANCE, OHIO -- The Defiance College men's golf team placed in a tie for second at the annual Defiance Fall Invitational at Eagle Rock Golf Club in Defiance.
DEFIANCE, OHIO -- The Defiance College men's golf team placed in a tie for second at the annual Defiance Fall Invitational at Eagle Rock Golf Club in Defiance. Junior Alex Miday (Canton/St. Thomas) continued his impressive play this season by finishing as the top indivdiual in the tournament.
The Yellow Jackets posted a team total of 301 strokes to place in a tie for second with Cleary (Mich.) University who also shot a combined 301 strokes. Madonna (Mich.) University won the team title with a total of 298 strokes.
Miday paced DC who carded a one-over-par round of 71 strokes to claim medalist honors in a field of 69 players. It marks the second time this fall that Miday has claimed individual champion accolades. Senior Jake Tinsley (Eaton) finished just behind Miday as part of a four-way tie for second with a round of 73 strokes to tie for second.
Senior Derek Lucas (Eaton) placed in the top-15 with a single-round total of 77 strokes. Junior Tyson Bostelman (Archbold) was fourth on the team with a round of 80 strokes and fellow junior Adam McGinnis (Bloomville/Buckeye Central) rounded out the individual team qualifying scores at 93 strokes.
Also competing as an individual was sophomore Drake Moening (Defiance) who carded a round of 89 strokes.
Defiance will wrap-up its fall portion of the 2016-17 schedule at the two-day Wabash (Ind.) College Invitational next Saturday-Sunday (Oct. 1-2) at Crawfordsville Country Club in Crawfordsville, Ind.
