CINCINNATI, Ohio – The men's soccer team defeated Mount St. Joseph 2-0 on Saturday, improving their record to 4-7 overall and 1-2 in the HCAC.
The game was held scoreless until the 52nd minute, when Kevin Elson recorded his second goal of the season to give the Jackets a 1-0 lead. Ryan Owens scored less than two minutes later off a Tony Cornell assist in what turned out to be the final goal of the game.
DC's defense recorded their second shutout of the season despite being outshot 33-11 in the match. Goalkeeper Taylor Smoot was exceptional for the Jackets, recording 16 saves to claim his first victory of the season.
The Yellow Jackets will play at Bluffton University (3-7-1, 1-1) on Wednesday, October 14. The match is set to begin at 4:00 p.m.
