DEFIANCE, Ohio – A first half goal was all the Spartans needed to defeat the men's soccer team on Wednesday, dropping the Yellow Jackets to 2-5 in conference competition. Defiance falls to 5-11 overall with the loss.
Manchester's Dian Radev provided the only goal of the game in the 36th minute to put the Spartans up 1-0. The Yellow Jackets were able to put consistent pressure on Manchester's defense throughout the match, but Spartan goalkeeper Matt Mullen recorded eight saves to keep Defiance off the score board. Tony Cornell, Kyle Johnson and Alexander Csizek each recorded two shots in the game for DC.
The Yellow Jackets will wrap up their 2009 campaign on Saturday, October 31, when they host Franklin College at the Defiance High School varsity soccer field. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
