Vogt and Loftis Earn All-HCAC Recognition
GREENWOOD, Ind. – The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference announced its 2009 men’s soccer all-conference teams on Thursday, November 12.
GREENWOOD, Ind. – The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference announced its 2009 men's soccer all-conference teams on Thursday, November 12. Defiance had two athletes selected as Greg Vogt and Joseph Loftis each received All-HCAC Second Team honors.
Vogt was a team captain for the Yellow Jackets and was the clear cut leader on the field. The senior midfielder used his quick decision making and ball movement skills to lead the Yellow Jackets to their best record since 2006. Vogt posted a team-high six assists on the season and wraps up his collegiate career with 14 assists for DC. The Willowick, Ohio, native was also the 2009 DC Classic Team-MVP and All-Tournament selection.
Loftis used his excellent speed and relentless tenacity to make things happen for the Yellow Jackets throughout the season. The sophomore started all 17 games for DC and recorded two goals and an assist from his midfield position. Loftis also became known for his well placed corner kicks and free kicks towards the second half of the season. The Armada, Mich., native was also a 2009 DC Classic All-Tournament selection.
The all-conference selections are nominated and voted on by the league's head coaches and are announced by the HCAC conference office.
