RICHMOND, IND. – Three members of the Defiance College men's soccer team were recognized by the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference for their performance this past season.
Senior Christian Meister (Ontario / Ontario) earned second team All-HCAC honors, while senior Clay Musgrave (Upper Sandusky / Upper Sandusky) was named HCAC Honorable Mention and sophomore Bennett Pack (Glasgow, Ky. / Glasgow) earned the Christopher M. Ragsdale All-Sportsmanship Award.
Meister grabs his second All-HCAC honor after starting in all 18 games for the Yellow Jackets. The Ontario, Ohio native finished the 2018 campaign with eight goals, three assists, one game winning goal and 19 points, ranking him fifth among the conference. The fifth-year senior finished his career with 18 goals for the Purple and Gold, ranking him in a tie for second in the Defiance College record books.
Musgrave finds his name on the HCAC postseason list for the third consecutive year. Musgrave played in 15 matches this season, starting 14 of which. The Upper Sandusky, Ohio native tallied 83 saves on the season, landing him third in the conference. Musgrave allowed only 25 goals during the 2018 campaign, enough for a top-five finish on the HCAC goals against charts. The senior finds himself in the Defiance College record books with 356 career saves (4th all-time), 12 career shutouts (T-1st all-time), and a 1.85 career goals against average (3rd all time).
Pack lands his first HCAC honor for the Purple and Gold for his efforts this season. The sophomore started in the Yellow Jacket back line in all 18 games this season. The Glasgow, Ky. native tallied 4 goals, including two game winners during the 2018 campaign.
Defiance concluded the 2018 season with an 8-10 overall mark and 5-4 conference record under the guidance of head coach Jordan Valentine.
