Yellow Jackets Outmatch Adrian in Win
DEFIANCE, Ohio – The DC men’s tennis squad won its second straight match on Tuesday as the Yellow Jackets defeated Adrian College at the Dix Tennis Facility by a score of 7-2.
DEFIANCE, Ohio – The DC men's tennis squad won its second straight match on Tuesday as the Yellow Jackets defeated Adrian College at the Dix Tennis Facility by a score of 7-2. The match was the first ever-regular season men's match that took place at the newly renovated complex.
All six of the Jackets notched at least one victory on the afternoon. The Purple and Gold swept all three positions in doubles play and claimed four out of the six spots in singles action. The closest doubles match was at the three doubles spot where senior Austin Gray and freshman Justin Walker teamed up to win in a tiebreaker by a score of 9-8. The one and two doubles positions won comfortably with scores of 8-5 and 8-4 respectively.
In singles play DC's Trevor Ault cruised to a 6-0, 6-3 victory at the one spot, and Ryan Nelson easily handled his opponent at four singles with a match score of 6-0, 6-1. Other winning singles' performances were turned in by Cord Speelman at three singles and Walker at six singles.
With the win, the Yellow Jackets improve their record to 3-8. Defiance is next in action on Saturday, March 24 when it hosts a tri-match with Alma and Grand Rapids. The first match is scheduled against Grand Rapids at 9:00 a.m. The match will take place at the Dix Tennis Facility.
