DC Ranked Fifth in Great Lakes Region by D3Rankings
DEFIANCE, Ohio – D3rankings.us released its track and field rankings for the week of February 21 and the Yellow Jackets found themselves in fifth place in the Great Lakes region and 29th in the nation.
DEFIANCE, Ohio – D3rankings.us released its track and field rankings for the week of February 21 and the Yellow Jackets found themselves in fifth place in the Great Lakes region and 29th in the nation.
The Purple and Gold have totaled 123.92 total points. DC is the second highest ranked Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference team in the rankings. The HCAC accounts for four of the top 11 teams in the Great Lakes region.
In the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association rankings, the Jackets are currently 10th in the Great Lakes region and 36th in the national rankings.
Leading the way for DC are junior Tom Postema, freshman Reggie Neal and junior Dan Hardin-Wallace. Postema is currently ranked first in the region in both the weight throw and shot put. The junior is ranked seventh in the nation in both events. Neal is in fourth place in the regional rankings for the triple jump. The freshman captured the HCAC title in the event. Hardin-Wallace is also fourth in the region in the pole vault. The junior cleared his best height of the year over the weekend at the HCAC Championships.
The Yellow Jackets host their first ever indoor track meet on Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. against conference foe Mount St. Joseph. The meet will take place at the newly constructed George M. Smart Athletic Center.
