DC Men’s Track and Field Break Into Top Ten in the Region
NEW ORLEANS – The Yellow Jackets’ men’s track and field team are currently ranked 10th in the Great Lake Region and 35th in the nation by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

This marks the first time in the program's history that it has broken into the top ten in the region for these rankings. DC's national ranking of 35 is also the best spot it has ever achieved.
Junior thrower Tom Postema has been a key figure in Defiance's success. The junior has earned the Purple and Gold major points for his performances in the weight throw and the shot put events. Postema is currently ranked ninth in the nation for weight throw and fifth for shot put out of all NCAA DIII. The thrower is also first in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference in both events and is the DC all-time record holder for the shot put event.
Other Defiance athletes who have excelled this indoor season are junior Dan Hardin-Wallace and freshman Reggie Neal. Hardin-Wallace is ranked in the top-50 in the nation in pole vault and Neal is in the top-50 in long jump.
The Yellow Jackets will compete in the HCAC Championships on Saturday, February 18 at Rose-Hulman. The meet is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
