The Defiance, Ohio native competed in a total of three events at the competition and scored first-place finishes in the shot put and discus with marks of 16.07 and 48.35 meters, respectively. The Yellow Jackets' toss in the shot put moved the thrower up to the No. 9 ranking in all of National Collegiate Athletic Association Div. III.
Postema also participated in the hammer throw, which he leads the country with the NCAA Div. III No. 1 ranking from his hurl at the MSJ Invitational earlier in the season. But on the day, the senior fouled out in the event and will look to get that corrected, as he preps for the All-Ohio Championships this upcoming weekend.
This HCAC Athlete of the Week selection gives Postema three straight during 2013 outdoor competition. The Tinora High product completed the same accomplishment during his fantastic indoor campaign and gives him six of the eight honors given out over the course of the 2012-13 conference track and field season.
The Purple and Gold track and field team will resume competition next Saturday, April 13 at the All-Ohio Outdoor Championships. DC will travel to Delaware, Ohio for the meet, where it is being hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University. Action is scheduled to start up at 10 a.m.
