ADRIAN, Mich. – The Defiance College men's track and field team traveled north on Saturday, April 6 to get there last competition in before the big All-Ohio Outdoor Track and Field Championships next weekend. Senior Tom Postema and juniors Joe Davis and Anthony Nolfi were the top performers on the afternoon. [Results]
Postema has been consistent all outdoor season, as he took first in the shot put and discus once again. The Tinora High product tossed distances of 16.07 meters in the shot and 48.35 m in the discus. Uncharacteristically though, the senior fouled out in the hammer throw and will look to get that corrected for All-Ohio.
Davis and Nolfi both added second-place finishes at the invite. On the track, Davis clocked in a 4:05.87 for the 1,500-meter event, while Nolfi hurled a mark of 46.92 m in the hammer throw.
Individually, four other Purple and Gold track and field members came away with third-place marks. Junior Luiyi Nunez scored a pair in each of the shot put (12.65 m) and hammer (44.52 m) events. The others were senior Dan Hardin-Wallace in the pole vault (4.11 m), sophomore Troy Parrett in the 800 (1:58.78) and freshman George Roth in the 200-meter dash (23.73).
The 4x100-meter relay team of Vinnie Perez, Ryan Johnston, Kevin Wynn Jr. and Roth also were able to grab the third best time in the event at 46.24.
The Defiance College track and field team will return home to prep for the big competition next weekend, when it travels to Delaware, Ohio for the All-Ohio Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Action will kick off at 10 a.m.
