KENOSHA, Wis. – With the National Collegiate Athletic Association Div. III Indoor Track and Field Championships a week away, senior Tom Postema competed at the Last Chance Meet in Kenosha, Wisconsin to prep for the top competition next weekend. [Results]
Fresh off his school and conference record weight throw toss of 20.72 meters that was the second-longest recorded distance in NCAA Div. III history, Postema came just short of the mark with a 20.68 toss at the Last Chance Meet. However, the mark was still strong enough for first place at the competition.
The senior also took part in the shot put and finished in eighth with a distance of 15.46 meters.
Postema will be the only member of the DC men's track and field team competing at the NCAA Div. III Indoor Track and Field Championships in Naperville, Illinois next weekend. There, he will compete in both the weight throw and shot put and look to reflect his top Div. III ranking in the weight throw with a national title in the event. The championships will start on Friday, March 8 at 12 p.m. and continue into Saturday.
