Postema Goes Back-to-Back as HCAC Field Athlete of the Week
GREENWOOD, Ind. – For the second straight week, Defiance College’s senior thrower Tom Postema claimed Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Field Athlete of the Week from his strong weekend outings at each of the Findlay Elite Invitational and Ohio Northern Invite.

A week after recording the third-longest weight throw toss in National Collegiate Athletic Association Division III history (20.29 meters), Postema was invited to the Findlay Elite Invitational on Friday, February 1 to compete against some of the best throwers in the country.
The Defiance, Ohio, native showed up and held his own at the meet by hurling a weight throw of 20.02 meters, which gave him a respectable seventh-place finish against top national competition.
Less than 24 hours later, Postema was back at it again for the Yellow Jackets and continued his outstanding senior campaign at the Ohio Northern Invite. The Tinora High product competed in the shot put and took the top spot at the meet with a toss of 15.51 meters.
The Purple and Gold track and field squad will return to Defiance for its third home meet of the indoor season on Friday, February 8. Action at the competition will kick off at 4 p.m.
