Wilson wins again, men's relay team sets school record at Steemer Showcase

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – The Defiance Yellow Jackets track and field programs competed at the Steemer Showcase at Wittenberg University on Saturday, marking the programs' fourth meet of the season.

The men's results were highlighted by a fourth straight win in the 60 meters by Xavier Wilson. Wilson 6.81-second run in the event broke his own school record and improved on his provisional qualifying time. Hurdlers and relay runners for both teams also had their first full runs of the year, which saw Wilson, Marcus Snell, Jajuan Hall, and J'Vontae Barnes finish fifth in the 4x200 relay and broke the school indoor record. The quartet in the 4x400 relay was just a fraction of a second off the school record (3:25.77 in 2014).

On the women's side, Rakel Thompson reached the top 20 in the 200 meters and was within 0.81 of a second from the program record. In the relay races, both teams in the 4x200 and 4x400 posted top-10 times in the program record books.
