Wilson competes at NAIA Indoor National Championships
GAINESVILLE, Fla - Defiance College freshman sprinter Xavier Wilson completed his stellar indoor season at the 2026 NAIA Indoor Track and Field Championships at Alachua County Sports and Events Center on Friday.
A Dayton, Ohio native, Wilson ran in the 200 meter prelims on Friday evening and ran the race in 21.67, finishing 13th in the field and just .21 from the final qualifying spot in Saturday's final event. Wilson finished third in his heat race.
For the season, his time on Friday was his second-best of the year after setting the program record at 21.58 on Jan. 23. Wilson was a three-time winner in the 200 meters this season and was a third-place finisher at the WHAC Championships last month. He also set the school record in the 60 meters this year running a 6.81 and won that event four times this season.
The Yellow Jackets track and field program turns its attention to the outdoor season next weekend by traveling to Southeastern University in Lakeland, Fla. for the SEU Fire Invite.
