Gostomsky named HCAC Hitter of the Week

CARMEL, Ind. - Senior Brooke Gostomsky (Covington, Ohio/ Covington) capped an impressive opening weekend by being named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Hitter of the Week for the first time this season. 

Gostomsky finished the week with a .467 batting average going 7-for-15 at the dish with seven RBIs. She also recorded two homeruns with seven runs scored, as Defiance opened the 2020 season with four games in Memphis, Tennessee.  

She put together a 1.133 slugging percentage and a .500 on-base percentage while recording a walk and stolen base for the week. 

In the Yellow Jackets' 15-5 win over Rhodes College on Sunday, Gostomsky went 4 for 5 with a homer, two doubles, four RBIs and four runs scored. 

Defiance sits 1-3 on the season and will return to action on Sunday, March 8, as they travel to Florida to compete at the Spring Games. The Yellow Jackets will face Penn St. Brandywine at 9:30 am and Simmons University at 12:15 pm.
