Kelsey Tietje Selected to Team of the Week

DEFIANCE, OHIO  --  A day after being named the conference "Player of the Week," Defiance College junior women's basketball player Kelsey Tietje (Deshler/Patrick Henry) has been selected to the Team of the Week. [ Release]

Tietje caps a strong week with her selection to the national honor.  She helped lead the Yellow Jackets to a pair of wins last week while averaging 26.5 points per game and 13.0 rebounds per game.

She shot an impressive 80.8 percent (21-of-26) overall from the field, which included a 10-of-12 (83.3 percent) effort against the Ravens, and 78.6 percent (11-of-14) at the free-throw line.  She also recorded nine blocked shots and added one steal.

In the team's win against Anderson (Ind.) University, Tietje scored 24 points and 14 rebounds.  Against Hanover (Ind.) College, she tallied 29 points and grabbed 12 boards to record her 10th and 11th double-doubles for the season.  

She now has 43 double-doubles for her career and has scored 1,225 career points and moves into 11th place all-time on the scoring list. 

The Yellow Jackets will host Earlham (Ind.) College on Wednesday, Feb. 3 in a HCAC game at the Karl H. Weaner Center.  The game is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.
