Vance, Shaner named WGCA Academic All-Americans
CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. - The Defiance College women's golf team placed two student-athletes on the 2024-25 Women's Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar Team, the WGCA announced on Monday.
The Yellow Jackets were represented by four-time honoree Isabelle Vance (Continental, Ohio/Miller City) and freshman Braylin Shaner (Piqua, Ohio/Piqua) among the 1,499 collegiate female golfers to be recognized for this prestigious award. The criteria to be named a women's golf Academic All-American include a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher, hold a roster spot through the conclusion of the season, and play in at least half of the team's scheduled competitive rounds through the conference championship.
This year's awards continued the strand of high-caliber academic achievement in the women's golf program with at least one Academic All-American in four of the last five years. Vance garnered her fourth Academic All-American honor and her third as a DC golfer, further building her title of the only multi-time recipient and now the first three-time winner. Along with Shaner's recognition, Defiance posted the program's second season with multiple Academic All-Americans.
