Gray closes fall season with second-place finish at Moose Landing
KALIDA, Ohio – The Defiance College women's golf team finished runner-up as a team and individually at the Moose Landing Fall Classic and Moose Landing Golf Course on Sunday and Monday. The first round was suspended on Sunday due to weather but the teams were able to finish the round and completed Round 2 with much better conditions on Monday..
DC freshman Madison Gray led after the first round with a 77. After a second round of 84, Gray finished with a 161 for her second tournament placing among the program's top-5 scores. Magen Hines and Olivia Splete each shot 190 to finished tied for 10th. Splete shot a pair of 95s to set a new personal best for her last tournament of the fall to go with her lowest 36-hole total at 190.
Oakland City took the team and individual titles, beating Defiance in both categories. The Mighty Oaks' Tanisha Downer bested Gray by one stroke to win the tournament while team rounds of 341 and 321 ran away with the team title at 662. Defiance shot 735 as a team on rounds of 357 and 378.
