ANDERSON, Ind. - The Defiance College women's soccer team blanked Anderson in double overtime, 0-0, on a cold Wednesday evening at Macholtz Stadium.
Defiance (1-12-2 overall, 0-6-2 HCAC) was led in the contest by sophomore goalkeeper Madi Bowman (Eaton) with a game-high 12 saves. Senior Kassie Memmer (Bowling Green)led the Purple and Gold attack recording three shots.
Anderson (10-2-3, 5-1-3 HCAC) pressured the Defiance defense early as the Ravens delivered back-to-back blows at the 31st minute mark that were saved by Bowman. They continued to push forward pelting the net but again found no answer.
The Yellow Jackets got a crack at net in the final seconds of the period as Memmer delivered a shot that was saved by the Ravens keeper.
Anderson wasted no time in the second half as they jumped the Yellow Jackets firing ten unanswered shots before Memmer delivered what was thought to be the golden goal in the final minute.
The Ravens dominated much of the overtime period outshooting the Yellow Jackets 5-0 but the back line held strong for DC and warded off the Raven attack en route to the double overtime tie.
The Yellow Jackets return to action Saturday as they welcome Mount St. Joseph for Senior Day. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m.
