ANGOLA, IND. - The Defiance College women's soccer team was in action Wednesday afternoon as they traveled to Trine University and were defeated by the Thunder 5-0.
The hosts broke the tie just six minutes into the match as a cross into the box was finished past junior goalkeeper Madi Bowman (Eaton / Eaton). The Yellow Jackets were able to hold the Thunder offense at bay for most of the first half as Trine broke through for a second time in the 38th minute. The hosts were able to find the back of the net three more times in the second half to ultimately prevail with a five goal victory.
Offensively, the Yellow Jackets got four shots away, two of which forcing the Thunder keeper into action. Katie Settich (Huber Heights / Chaminade Julienne) led the way with two shots, while Maddie Brown (Toledo / Cardinal Stritch Catholic) and Kat Wicher (Toledo / Whitmer) each added one shot to the category. Defensively, Bowman played all 90 minutes for the Purple and Gold, coming away with seven saves on the day.
The Yellow Jackets fall to 0-5 with the loss. The team will next be in action Saturday, Sept. 15th at Winsper-Knobel Memorial Field as they host Ohio Wesleyan. Saturday's kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 pm.
