Yellow Jackets fall in season opener to Rose-Hulman

DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Defiance College women's tennis team opened up its 2013 season Saturday afternoon against Rose-Hulman. The Yellow Jackets were defeated by a match score of 9-0.

The Purple and Gold was outmatched by the strong, experienced Rose-Hulman squad, who finished as HCAC regular-season and HCAC tournament runner ups in 2012.

Savannah Marquez had the best day for DC, winning four games in her match. Marquez challenged in the first set and was a part of the only game one in doubles play with Maria Weber.

Tasha Brown took two games in one of her two sets. In total, the Lady Jackets took nine games in the day's action.

The loss places Defiance's record at 0-1 to begin the young season. The Lady Yellow Jackets have a quick turnaround and are back in action on Wednesday, Sept. 18 when they travel to Manchester University. The match begins at 4 p.m.
