Women's Tennis Places Three on Preseason Watch List
GREENWOOD, IND. -- The Defiance College women's tennis team has placed three on the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Preseason Players to Watch list for the upcoming season.
GREENWOOD, IND. -- The Defiance College women's tennis team has placed three on the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Preseason Players to Watch list for the upcoming season.
The group is led by junior Hannah Hesterman (Archbold), who was named first-team All-HCAC in 2016. Hesterman finished the season with a 3-8 mark in singles play, but 2-5 in HCAC play.
Joining Hesterman on the list is senior Courtney Alexander (Bristolville/Bristol), as well as freshman Alicia Breneman (Bryan).
The Yellow Jackets were picked to finish seventh in the HCAC in the Preseason Coaches Poll that was released on Tuesday. DC had 34 points, while Earlham sat behind them with 24.
Rose-Hulman was selected to win the HCAC title with 77 points, with Hanover close behind in the second position. Franklin, Manchester, and Transylvania round out the top five in the poll.
DC's tennis team will open the 2017 season on Thursday, August 31 with a home match against Huntington University at 4 p.m. at the Dix Tennis Facility. HCAC play will then begin on Saturday, Sept. 9 against Rose-Hulman at 12 p.m.
