Horvath and Wilson set new program records at GVSU
ALLENDALE, Mich. - The Defiance College men's and women's track teams each had standout performances as in the team's first road competition of the year at Friday's Bill Clinger Classic at Grand Valley State.
The women's competition saw junior Mira Horvath set her third program record in the 600 meters, running the race in 1:45.81 for a 14th-place finish. Her time broke the previous record by nearly 4 seconds (1:49.60) set in 2012 by Erika DeBos.
On the men's side, Xavier Wilson racked up two more event victories in the 60 meter dash and 200 meter dash. His time in the 200 meters bettered his newly-minted program record after a run in 21.58 seconds and was also an NAIA B Standard. Additionally, Jesse Brown recorded a top-5 finish in the high jump with a top mark of 1.97 meters.
Defiance also saw multiple personal bests in addition to the new records: Zawadi Debola in the 600 meters, J'Vontae Barnes in the 200, and Marcus Snell in the 200 meters.
