DEFIANCE, OHIO - Defiance College volleyball program has released the 2019 schedule. The schedule features eight contests within the Karl H. Weaner Center and a road schedule filled with tough opponents.
The Yellow Jackets begin the season with a busy weekend as they take on the Pam Briggs Classic field at Capital University. Matches with Otterbein and Lawrence on August 30, and Capital and St. John Fisher on August 31 will highlight the opening weekend.
DC will return to action in September as they take on Westminster, Penn St.-Behrend, Bethany, and Fredonia on September 6 and 7. The quartet of matches will take place as part of the Penn St. Behrend Tournament.
Defiance will begin the home season on September 10 as Adrian College pays a visit to campus. The Yellow Jackets will return to the road as they head to Ohio Wesleyan for the OWU Tournament featuring battles with Otterbein, Wilmington and the hosts on Sept. 13-14.
The long road stretch is dotted with a home match with Albion on Tuesday, September 17. DC then takes to the road for two straight weekends as they take on Ohio Northern and Kenyon on September 21, and Alma and Kalamazoo on September 28 to wrap up the majority of the nonconference season.
HCAC play begins at home as Hanover visits the Weaner Center on October 5. Away battles with Manchester and Rose-Hulman on October 5 and 12 will prep the Yellow Jackets before returning home with a contest against Earlham on October 16.
Road matches with Franklin on October 18 and Bluffton on October 30 bookend a three game home stretch for the Yellow Jackets. Anderson will visit on October 23 before Transylvania and Olivet feature in a Saturday tri-match on October 26.
DC will conclude the regular season with Mount St. Joseph on November 2. The contest will serve as Senior Day for the program.
