Defiance women’s volleyball garners 2025 AVCA Team Academic Award

DEFIANCE, Ohio – The American Volleyball Coaches Association released the 2025 Team Academic Awards on Monday with the Defiance College women's volleyball team among this year's distinguished academic performers.

Teams were recognized across all levels of college volleyball, in addition to high school teams, by maintaining a year-long GPA of 3.3 or higher.

The Yellow Jackets' volleyball team sported a 3.60 cumulative GPA during the 2024-25 academic year, leading all Defiance athletic programs highlighted by a stellar 3.72 team GPA in the spring. Defiance received the AVCA Team Academic Award for the eighth time and the first time as an NAIA institution.

Defiance is among the high-performing academic women's volleyball teams in the following categories: 799 college team, 67 NAIA teams and 37 college teams in the state of Ohio.

The Yellow Jackets return to the court in one month with the beginning of their 2025 campaign at the Onset Invitational in Fort Wayne on Aug 22-23.
