Bio

Nick Umbdenstock was named head coach of the Defiance College volleyball team in January of 2022 after spending the past two seasons as an assistant coach with the program.

Umbdenstock has spent valuable time as a coach at both the club and collegiate levels. He came to Defiance after a stint at fellow Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference member, Mount St. Joseph, where he served as assistant coach while simultaneously leading teams in the club environment.

Prior to his time with MSJ, Umbdenstock served in a variety of roles across numerous clubs and divisions of collegiate athletics. While with Ohio Premier Volleyball Club, he served as an assistant club director, head coach of multiple age groups, and provided services as a private lesson and training instructor.

Alongside roles with Cincinnati State Community College as defensive coordinator and Miami University (OH) as an intern, Umbdenstock has amassed a variety of coaching experiences that he now brings to Defiance.

Originally from Fairborn, Ohio, Umbdenstock earned a Bachelor of Science in sport leadership and management with a coaching concentration from Miami University in 2015
