Miller and Bowling lead DC to third place finish

Two individuals pair up to run six miles as a team. As soon as one team member finishes a mile loop, her teammate then begins until the team finishes six miles.
The Yellow Jackets brought three complete teams to compete.
The team of Kara Smith and Mariah Jordan from Manchester won the event with a 37:27.9.
DC's best finish came from the team of Eme Miller (Portland, Ind. / Jay County) and Kelsey Bowling (Sidney, Ohio / Houston). They finished in sixth place with a combined time of 38:18.4.
Miller saw the best finish overall as an individual for a DC runner. Her time of 5:34.1 was also the second fastest time of the meet. It was also 45 seconds faster than what Miller ran at the same event last year.
Bowling also put up a respectable three loops. Her best lap was a 6:54.8, which was her first lap of the meet.
The Yellow Jackets next finishing team came in at eighth place. The freshman team of Courtney Kunk (St. Henry, Ohio / St. Henry) and Whitney Schalk put up a time of 39:21.2. Kunk and Schalk came in with their best times of 6:25.8 and 6:33.4, respectively.
DC's third team came in with a 13th place finish. The team of Aaron Textor and Marissa Bussard (Whitehall, Ohio / Bloom-Carroll) finished with a time of 42:06.4. Textor's best time was at 6:32.4 and Bussard saw a best time of 7:10.7.
Overall, DC finished in third place. The Yellow Jackets next meet is on September 13 at the Calvin Invitational. Start time is set for 10 am.
