FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Defiance Yellow Jackets were sunk on Friday at Warrior Baseball Field by the Indiana Tech Warriors by scores of 13-0 and 13-2 in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference action.
The Yellow Jackets (14-29, 7-15 WHAC) were held to six total hits across the pair of ballgames as DC has now dropped 6 of 7 after winning 3 out of 4. Bradyn Shaw connected on 2 hits in the opening contest while Hayden Kanagy doubled twice in the second contest. Dominic Jarjis and Kolbe VanderLeest accounted for the team's other 2 hits while Defiance drew 7 walks in the second game.
Game 1 - Indiana Tech 13, Defiance 0
Indiana Tech had things clicking on both sides of the ball to fuel a 13-0 win in the opener. Starting pitcher Noah Redmon tossed a complete-game shutout for the Warriors and struck out 8 Yellow Jackets. Redmon carried a perfect game through the first four innings until Bradyn Shaw broke the string with a leadoff single in the fifth. Shaw added a second hit in the seventh frame to push Anthony Silvera Jr. into scoring position with two outs, but the Jackets were unable to break up the shutout.
The Warriors did their damage against a trio of DC pitchers. They used a pair of 3-run innings over the first three frames before a 2-run fourth made the score 8-0. A 5-run sixth opened up the 13-0 score while the Warriors rapped 12 hits and 3 doubles plus the help of 8 DC walks.
Game 2 - Indiana Tech 13, Defiance 2 (7 innings)
Definace gained the first two runs of the game with a hit-by-pitch, a double and 4 walks. However, the Warriors responded with 13 unanswered runs. Starting with a run in the first, Indiana Tech used a 5-run fourth to take the lead ahead of 7 more runs across their last two turns at the plate. Indiana Tech's bullpen recorded all 21 outs and held DC to 2 hits of scoreless relief.
UP NEXT
DC Baseball will host its final home games of the season on Sunday at Defiance High School when they host the UNOH Racers for a 1 p.m. doubleheader. The Yellow Jackets will also honor the program's senior class prior to the contest.
