Esports Rundown: Tough week in the DEL for all three games
DEFIANCE, Ohio - Defiance College Esports had a busy week that did not produce a victory but bounced back early this week as the spring season rolled on in the Defiance Esports Lab.
The Yellow Jackets suffered losses in Valorant, Overwatch and Rocket League over the Feb. 9-15 period. In NECC Valorant, the Jackets lost 2-0 (15-13 and 13-5) to Montclair State and were led once again by Auston Howland. Howland posted a team-high 52 kills followed by Daniel Aranovksy with 30. Damien Martinez, Elijah Mayes and Lydia Fernandez also competed in the series and all posted at least 20 kills in the competitive loss. That same group regrouped on Monday night and defeated St. Bonaventure 2-0.
In WHAC competition in Overwatch 2, the Jackets went 0-2 on the week with losses to Indiana Tech and Cleary. DC now stands 0-3 in the WHAC in Overwatch with two regular-season matches remaining before the WHAC Play-In Tournament. Defiance did not have a Valorant match in the WHAC last week but are primed to take on Cleary on Tuesday night.
The Rocket League Gold Team had a forfeited loss on Thursday evening to drop to 1-1. Both Rocket League teams are back in action on Thursday night.
