Football to Host Samaritan's Feet Shoe Drive on Saturday
DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Defiance College Yellow Jackets Football team has announced that this Saturday's game against Hanover College will be part of an event that will benefit Samaritan’s Feet and help provide shoes to impoverished children across the globe.
DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Defiance College Yellow Jackets Football team has announced that this Saturday's game against Hanover College will be part of an event that will benefit Samaritan's Feet and help provide shoes to impoverished children across the globe.
Defiance College will hold a shoe donation drive at the game on Saturday, as well as accept monetary donations. Shoe's that are donated must be new and unused. Fans may also purchase Samaritan's Feet wristbands at the game and during the week leading up to the game. Wristbands are $10. Fans with questions about donations or the event, as well as fans interested in purchasing a wristband prior to Saturday's game, should contact Matt Zahel in Defiance Athletics.
All nine HCAC football squads are hosting an event this season, becoming the first conference in the NCAA to do a conference-wide initiative for the organization.
Samaritans Feet is a non-profit organization founded by Emmanuel Ohonme in 2003. Their mission is to equip ten million impoverished children with ten million shoes in ten years. Since beginning in 2003, Samaritan's Feet has helped 4 million people in 60 countries. They also have partnerships with the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and SAAC (Student Athlete Advisory Committee).
