Football loses road contest at Anderson

The Defiance football team fell in a road contest against Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference foe Anderson on Saturday afternoon, 42-14.

• Junior Seth Pearson led the Defiance offense with 125 passing yards and one touchdown through the air.
• Sophomore Tyshaun Freeman carried the ball eight times for 22 yards.
• Senior Amin Shaheed led the Yellow Jacket receiving core with three catches for 59 yards and one score.
• Freshman Ethan Goss added four receptions for 34 yards.
• Senior Thomas Coltrain led the Defiance defense with 11 total tackles including 1.5 tackles-for-loss and two pass break-ups.

• Anderson started the scoring in the first quarter off a 27-yard touchdown pass from Harley to Dean Foundos to take a 7-0 lead.
• Defiance tied the game up 7-7 with 6:20 left in the first quarter off a 75-yard interception return for a touchdown from freshman Demetrius Stillwell.
• The Ravens regained the lead before halftime off a 20-yard touchdown pass from Harley to Gallent to make it, 14-7.
• After halftime, Anderson used their momentum from the end of the first half and rallied off 21 straight points to take a 35-7 lead.
• The Yellow Jackets tacked on a touchdown in the fourth quarter off a 24-yard touchdown pass from Pearson to Shaheed.
