TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Defiance College men’s basketball team opened Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference play on Saturday afternoon with an 83-73 road win over the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology Fightin’ Engineers at Hulbert Arena. Defiance, now a perfect 6-0 overall this season, was coming off a two-week layoff with its last game being played on Nov. 23.

Andrew named HCAC Men's Basketball Athlete of the Week

CARMEL, Ind. – Defiance College’s Tyler Andrew (Indianapolis, Ind./Lawrence Central) was named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week for men’s basketball, the conference announced on Monday afternoon after a vote of its sports information directors. It marks the first time Andrew has received the honor.

DEFIANCE, Ohio – After playing two exhibition games on the road, the Defiance College men’s basketball team opened its 2019-20 regular season at home on Saturday with a dramatic 75-74 win over the Westminster College (Pa.) Titans in a non-conference game inside the Karl H. Weaner Community Center. The contest was also the season opener for the guests.

The Defiance College men’s basketball team will once again be very young in 2019-20 as 12 freshmen, six sophomores and a junior make up the roster. Joining the dozen newcomers are seven returnees, including three starters from last season. Although young, the team is experienced and very talented, according to fifth-year head coach Scott Cutter.
