Theissler named WHAC Men's Golfer of the Week

DEFIANCE, Ohio - Defiance College sophomore golfer Sam Theissler (Barrie, Ontario/Innisdale) was honored by the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference as the league's Men's Golfer of the Week after his runner-up finish in the fall finale last Monday.

Playing nearly 30 holes to finish the first round and a full 18 at Moose Landing Golf Course on Monday, Theissler completed a record-tying round of 68 to start the day. He is the third player to shoot 68 in DC men's golf history and is the second player to own multiple sub-70 rounds. Theissler finished the tournament with a 76 in Round 2, completing the tournament at 144 and his second runner-up finish of the fall season.

Through five events in the fall, Theissler leads the program with a 74.5 18-hole average as he pursues the program's 18-hole season record (74.29). 

This is the first Men's Golfer of the Week Award won by the DC men's golf team since the shift to NAIA and the WHAC, in addition to the first golfer of the week award for the program since the 2018-19 season.
