WHAC Announced 2025-26 Men's Golf Awards
YORKTOWN, Ind. - The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference released the 2026 men's golf all-conference awards following this week's conference championship with seven Defiance Yellow Jackets recognized, the league announced on Wednesday.
DC sophomore Jordan Walford captured individual medalist honors at the 2026 WHAC Men's Golf Championship with an even-par 54-hole total of 216, becoming the fourth individual to win a conference title in DC men's golf history. Fellow Canadian sophomore Sam Theissler was named a Second Team All-WHAC performer after his scores at the WHAC Fall Preview and WHAC Championship was 10th-best among his peers. Theissler shot 228 in the Fall Preview and 226 at this week's championships for a 454 total. Theissler's 75.8 18-hole average led the team through the 2025-26 season and 6th-lowest in program history.
Freshman Brayden Allen was honored as the team's representative on the WHAC Champions of Character Team as an exemplary model of the NAIA's five core character values of integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership.
Defiance also had five players make the WHAC's All-Academic Team, which is composed of student-athletes with sophomore academic standing or above, attending their current school for one full year, and carrying a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or better. Sam Boyles, Alex Moritz, Zack Palmer, Cooper Sloan and Sam Theissler all reached the achievement to tie for the most academic all-conference honors in a season in program history. For Boyles and Cooper, it was their second straight WHAC All-Academic Team nominations.
