DEFIANCE, Ohio - The Defiance College men's soccer team fell 4-0 to Mount Union College in the final match of the men's DC Classic on August 31.
The Purple Raiders jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the opening period, outshooting DC 8-0 in the stanza. The Jackets were finally able to put pressure on Purple Raider's keeper Bobby Petras in the final period with five shots, but Mount Union would go on to tack on another goal to push its lead to four. Bryce Hodges and Tony Cornell each tallied two shots for Defiance in the second half, while Matthew Johnson added one.
Chris Ibberson took the loss for the Jackets, giving up all three first period goals while recording one save. Fellow frosh Mitch Livensparger was in goal for the second period, surrendering one goal and collecting two saves.
Defiance, 0-2, returns to action on Saturday, September 6, when it travels to the College of Wooster for a match at 3:30 p.m.
