Jackets Win Second Straight, Defeat Bluffton Beavers
BLUFFTON, Ohio – The Defiance College men’s soccer team defeated Bluffton University 4-3 on Wednesday, recording their second consecutive victory and improving to 2-2 in HCAC competition.

BLUFFTON, Ohio – The Defiance College men's soccer team defeated Bluffton University 4-3 on Wednesday, recording their second consecutive victory and improving to 2-2 in HCAC competition. The Yellow Jackets are now 5-7 overall and move in to fourth place in the conference standings.
Aaron Bronson gave the Jackets a one point lead when he connected off a Tony Cornell assist from the left wing at the 32 minute mark. Bluffton's Robert Johnson answered with an unassisted goal two minutes later to tie the game, 1-1, going in to halftime.
Defiance came out firing in the second half, reclaiming a one point advantage in the first minute on a goal from Kyle Johnson. Chris Kessler recorded his third goal of the season off an assist from Kyle Johnson to put the Jackets up by two before Ryan Owens found the net, giving DC a 4-1 lead.
The Beavers threatened late, recording two quick goals to draw themselves within one, but the DC defense stiffened and came away with the victory. Goalkeeper Taylor Smoot recorded three saves and improves to 2-3 on the season.
The Yellow Jackets will return to the pitch on Saturday, October 17, when they travel to Indiana to face HCAC rival Anderson University. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
