Kleptz Named HCAC Player of the Week
GREENWOOD, IND. -- Sophomore Nick Kleptz (Troy) has been named this week's Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Soccer "Player of the Week."
GREENWOOD, IND. -- Sophomore Nick Kleptz (Troy) has been named this week's Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Soccer "Player of the Week."
Kleptz had a strong first week of the season scoring a team-best three goals in three games, including scoring both goals in a 2-1 come-from-behind victory against Saint (Pa.) Vincent College as part of the annual Purple & Gold Classic this past weekend. He also scored a goal on a penalty kick in a 2-1 win against The College of Wooster in the Yellow Jacket's first game of the Purple & Gold Classic.
Kleptz ended the week with a .375 shot percentage with a pair of game-winning goals and five shots on goal (.625 shot on goal percentage). To date, Kleptz leads the HCAC in goals (three) and points (six) after the first week of competition.
Defiance will look to keep its momentum going this weekend when it travels to Ada, Ohio for the Ohio Northern University Invitational on Saturday-Sunday, Sept. 12-13. The Yellow Jackets will play against Thiel (Pa.) College on Saturday with kickoff scheduled for 5 p.m. DC will then take on SUNY-Brockport on Sunday to wrap-up the two-day event. That game is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
