Defiance, Ohio- The Defiance College men's soccer team wrapped up the 2019 Purple and Gold Classic with a 2-1 loss in overtime to Edgewood College.

The Yellow Jackets jumped out to an early lead as sophomore Chase Stiner (St. Joseph, Ill./ St. Joseph Ogden), connected with senior Adam Ordel (Lima, Ohio/ Elida) for a header to record his first goal of the season. Ordel had five shots on the day, two of which were on goal.

The Eagles quickly responded with a goal from Edwin Aguirre in the twenty-sixth minute of play.

Defensively, Yellow Jacket goalie, Harrison Hirth (Lapeer, Mich./ Lapeer) recorded six saves on eight shots on goal.

In the second half, neither team could find the back of the net, sending the game into overtime. It wasn't until the ninety-eighth minute that Edgewood's Brain Root scored on a fast break to end the game.

The Purple and Gold will be back in action Wednesday, September 4, as they travel to Trine University for a 4:00 pm kickoff.
