Men's Soccer Defeated on the Road

ALLIANCE, OHIO- The Defiance College men's soccer team traveled to the University of Mount Union on Saturday evening. The Raiders defeated the Yellow Jackets by a score of 3-1.

Mount Union struck first this evening scoring two goals in the first half. Sophomore goalkeeper, Harrison Hirth (Lapeer, Mich. / Lapeer) minded the net for all 90 minutes of play, recording seven saves on the night.

The Yellow Jacket offense came alive in the second half, as junior Christian Rennie (Conroe, Tex. / Porter), connected with Jarren Casto (Celina, Ohio / Celina) to put Defiance on the board. Casto scored the second goal of his junior season and tallied two shots on goal this evening.

Despite the offensive attempts, the Raiders were able to hold on to their lead, as they tacked on an insurance goal with 10 minutes left in the game.

The defeat takes the Yellow Jacket record to 1-4-1 on the 2019 campaign. The men's soccer side will hit the road on Wednesday, September 18th as they travel to Alma College for a 4:00 pm kickoff, before returning home on September 21st to host Geneva.
